Perfection stifles creativity

Hello everyone, it's Elisa here!
Woop woop, this is officially the first post ever in My modern calligraphy. Welcome y'all and thanks for joining in.

I've been far too excited about starting this project: there is still one hell of a lot of work to do around these pages, but at least the blog is here! The truth is, I've been internet shy for a long while... and that's OK, I guess that's just a result of overdoing it in the past, so now I'm kinda looking for a good balance between posting too much and not posting at all, LOL.

At the same time, in the quest of some sort of mythical perfection I've been refraining from practicing my calligraphy like I used to, and from posting anything at all. Which is pretty bad. It is bad because in the name of this so-called perfection, we often refrain ourselves from creating. This is the case here. Creation means imperfection: just let it flow and don't get stuck in the name of perfection, because at the end of the day it is something that does not exist! Or, as Mr. Salvador Dali sagaciously said:

Have no fear of perfection - you will never reach it - Salvador Dalì
Damn. How true!
I just got back from London where I purchased the book Nib + Ink by fellow (I wish! I'm letting my imagination run free here) prime calligrapher Chiara Perano from Lamplighter London - of which I will be posting a review real soon. Let's just say that it is a truly precious book, and that at page 14 it features this exact sentence:

Perfection stifles creativity - Chiara Perano
Well it's kinda reassuring to see that I'm not the only one! So yeah, let's start this exciting journey through calligraphy together... we will get better day by day, that's for sure. Perfection stifles creativity. Let's not let this happen, let's be as creative as f*** and stop worrying about things, shall we?
